Sheeting Rolled to Order By Mobile Mills
By their nature, concealed-fix sheeting profiles eliminate the need for
pierce-fixing, thereby dramatically reducing the probability of roof leakage.
By supplying these profiles in continuous lengths, no end lapping is required
and the possibility of leakage is further eliminated. On large spans, these
parameters can only be met by profiling flat coil material on site. The
concept and reality of site rolling was first introduced in South Africa by
Brownbuilt in 1965. Since then, the company has ensured that it remains the
undisputed leader in this field. The mobile mills in Brownbuilt's fleet are
the most sophisticated of their kind in Southern Africa. These fully contained,
purpose built factories on wheels, incorporate Brownbuilt's vast experience and
expertise combined with the latest available technology The Klip-Lok 700 mill
represents another Brownbuilt innovation. A motorised de-coiler, capable of
handling 10 ton coils, was designed and incorporated in the rig to reduce coil
change-over times and tail-end waste, and increase daily rolling capacities.
Flat sheet tension between de-coiler and rolling mill was eliminated, thereby
enhancing the quality and trueness of the finished rolled product. Other
advanced built-in features include hydraulic mill leveling on site to
computerised pinpoint accuracy with six outriggers from a single control point.
The rig utilises the latest pneumatic suspension technology, as used in luxury
passenger coaches, to protect the advanced electronic equipment. For maneuverability,
and to conform to the permissible limits of rig lengths as prescribed by the
road traffic ordinance, it was necessary to condense the road length of the
mill into that of an articulated trailer. When the plant arrives on site, the
overall length of the mill is increased, by extending the innovatively designed
telescopic trailer. By extending the mill length, Brownbuilt are able to offer
site rolled material to the same stringent standards of quality and profile
accuracy as the static mills located at their ISO9002 listed factory in
Boksburg. Mobile mills are available for all three concealed-fix profiles
offered by the company.
