Costruzioni Italiane Serrature e Affini - CISA - was established in Florence in 1926 by Luigi Bucci.

Customers soon became familiar with the CISA brand, thanks to the product that radically improved the opening of doors and gates: the first electric controlled lock, patented in 1926. After the destruction of the Florence plant, during World War II, CISA was rearranged in 1944 in Faenza (Ravenna). In the 1970's, production increased exponentially, with the opening of the new plants in Monsampolo del Tronto (Ascoli Piceno) and Tavernelle (Perugia).

Expansion into Europe began in 1983 with the establishment of a new production plant in Spain, CISA Cerraduras. Expansion continued in 1992 with the acquisition of Bricard in France, and the establishment of CISA UK - CISA's commercial company in the United Kingdom. Internationally, CISA's expansion proceeded with the acquisition of several companies already operating in the market, and the establishment of new companies in Venezuela, South Africa and Singapore.

CISA develops, manufactures, and markets Locks and Cylinders for any kind of door, as well as Electronic Locks, Panic Bars, Door Closers, Safes and Padlocks. CISA was the first company in the world to patent and produce the Electric Lock, in 1926, and was also the first company in the world to develop Smart-Card Locks for more efficient Access Control systems.

CISA is the leading brand in Europe, in the Locking and Access Control Systems industry sectors. With six plants, and a worldwide distribution network in over 70 countries, CISA has a prominent role within the international market. More than 30 000 articles can be found in the CISA catalogue, and many of these products are tested and certified according to the European Standards (EN Norms).
