Soilcrete is a low strength Readymix concrete fill or backfill, which consists
of a mixture of fine aggregate and cement. Soilcrete can be used as an economical
alternative to placing and compacting soil or granular material.
Soilcrete can be placed directly or by pumping and eliminates the need for
compaction equipment and water supply on site. Because of its slump consistency,
the concrete can be placed with minimal effort and no vibration or tamping,
filling inaccessible areas, including very narrow trenches.
Applications for Soilcrete include filling large voids around pipes, behind
retaining walls and bridge abutments, manholes, redundant underground tanks
and so forth. This is also effective for concreting signboard and guardrail
posts into the ground.
