PREAMBLE

This certificate is issued by Agrément South Africa in terms of the powers granted to it by the Minister of Public Works. This certificate covers the use of Isoboard® when used as inverted roof insulation and when:

  • manufactured by Isofoam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, or by a licensee1 appointed by the certificate holder and registered as such with Agrément South Africa
  • installed in accordance with the certificate holder's Installation Manual, and within the framework of the limitations and conditions given in this certificate

  
The certificate does not apply to any other products marketed by Isofoam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. Users of the system and building control officers should satisfy themselves that the above conditions are complied with.
The validity of this certificate is subject to continued participation by the certificate holder in Agrément South Africa's post-certification quality assurance scheme. Quality assurance monitoring will be carried out on the certificate holder and his licensees at regular intervals. Reappraisals or amendments are to be requested by the certificate holder prior to making changes to the product and will also be required by Agrément South Africa in the event of changes to the National Building Regulations2 or to Agrément criteria.
Notices affecting the validity of this certificate will be published in the Government Gazette.

The certificate has been granted after a technical appraisal of the performance of the Isoboard® inverted roof insulation based on:

  • known behaviour of the materials used
  • documentation provided by the applicant 
  • an inspection of the applicant's factory and a recently completed installation 
  • an assessment of the certificate holder's quality management system.


Cognizance has also been taken of the work done by the British Board of Agrément for the certification of similar products.
The certificate gives the uses for which the product is considered satisfactory and indicated precautions which should be taken in its use.

  
  

PART I: CERTIFICATION


  
1.

CERTIFICATE HOLDER   
The certificate holder is Isofoam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd who manufactures Isoboard® insulation in its factory in Atlantis Industria. Isofoam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd distributes the product. 
Isofoam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd offers technical support from IsoBoard Sales offices in Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Durban. This support includes guidance in the selection

 of 1250 mm or 2500 mm. On request and as agreed, 60 and 70 mm thick boards can be manufactured.
The product is delivered to building sites in translucent plastic packaging which carries the identification symbol of Agrément South Africa as illustrated below and with handling instructions.

SUBJECT 
This certificate relates to Isoboard® thermal insulation, an extruded polystyrene rigid foam board. Boards are pigmented white or blue and are 600 mm wide with the edges of the board profiled for shiplapping. For this application boards are manufactured in standard thicknesses of 30, 40 and 50 mm and in standard lengths

Licensee - Any person or company appointed by the certificate holder and registered with Agrément South Africa to manufacture insulation in accordance with the certificate and authorised by him to claim compliance with the certificate. The certificate holder is responsible for ensuring that the licensee works in compliance with the certificate and the quality assurance scheme.
