Modek offers a choice of two natural lighting product ranges - GRP and Polycarbonate. As South Africa's only manufacturer of both these types of translucent roof sheeting, we are able to advise specifiers and users of the relevant facts of both materials in an unbiased way.

Modek GRP (Glassfibre Reinforced Polyester) Sheeting is a cost-effective solution to the need for providing natural light.

GRP sheeting was first produced in South Africa in 1959. Today Modek GRP sheeting is comparable with that produced anywhere in the world, due to the wealth of local technological experience we have accumulated, coupled with the astute use of international technology.

Modek GRP sheeting is manufactured using UV stabalised unsaturated polyester resin and glassfibre reinforcement material. The weathering surface is covered with a highly UV stabilised gelcoat layer. This new generation technology offers superior weathering characteristics to conventional methods in the GRP sheeting industry.

All Modek's GRP products are specifically designed to withstand the harsh South African climatic conditions and gelcoated products carry the SABS 1150/1984 mark of approval. Modek GRP sheets are manufactured by an automated continuous lamination process. This ensures consistently high product quality in successive consignments, and allows for any transportable length of sheet to be made.

Modek Polycarbonate Sheeting is a high quality, virtually indestructible translucent roofing material, manufactured from Polycarbonate - one of the most advanced polymers available. All Modek Polycarbonate sheets have a co-extruded layer of highly UV stabalised polymer on the surface to create a weather-resistant surface.

Exceptional impact strength, excellent flame retardant characteristics and resistance to weathering make Modek Polycarbonate roof sheeting a good choice where these characteristics are required.
