Timber brandering:

It is recommended that SABS approved timber brandering be used. Generally 38 x 38 SA battens are fixed perpendicular to roof trusses with 75 - 100mm steel nails. Refer to the table below for truss spacings & brandering sizes.

Truss Spacing Brandering Size 0 - 1000mm 38 x 38mm 1001 - 1200mm 38 x 50mm (50mm vertical dimension) 1201 - 1400mm 50 x 50

Brandering centres will again depend on the thickness plasterboard to be used & must be fixed using 32mm grabber screws at 150mm centres.

Formation of bulkheads, special features & cornices:

There are various methods utilised to form special features & these include combinations of galvanised angles, steel studding & formed steel. Often moulded light troughs, cornices & special details are formed from fibre glass, moulded gypsum plaster products or other moulded or extruded products, which should all be fixed in strict accordance with the suppliers instructions.
