PRODUCT INFO:

Care

MelaWood is easily maintained and cleaned using low-alkaline abrasive-free detergents. Minor stains can be removed using commercial solvents or lacquer thinners.

MelaWood will resist splashes from boiling water and cooking liquids.  MelaWood's exposed edges must be treated with a water repellent sealant especially in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, sinks, basins, and sculleries.  For moist areas, it is best to combine MelaWood with a moisture-resistant BisonDura substrate.

Storage

MelaWood should be stored horizontally under cover on a firm level base, not less than 5cm from the ground. When stacked, spacers should be used to provide adequate support at equal distances, approximately 900mm between spacers. Ensure spacers are aligned when packs are stacked.

Properties

MelaWood's superior quality makes it suitable for all light to medium duty vertical and light duty horizontal applications.   MelaWood's hard, pre-finished surface offers heat-, stain- and scratch resistance.  Ease of maintenance is a primary benefit.  MelaWood is available in full board sizes convenient for most vertical interior architecture applications including office furniture, domestic furniture, cladding and shopfitting.

Working Tips

MelaWood can be worked with standard woodworking tools and machines.  When cutting by hand, ensure that the decorative surface is uppermost and that a fine tooth crosscut saw is used to achieve a clean cut.  When using portable electric saws, a fine tooth saw blade must be used with the blade not protruding more than 10mm above the workpiece.  For industrial applications, the use of tungsten carbide tipped saws and cutters are recommended. For best results use a fine tooth sawblade with a backing plate on the machine base to prevent chipout.

MelaWood is easily matched to a wide variety of commercially available edging including foil, timber, flexible or rigid PVC, Formica, or metal trims.  This offers the fabrictor a multitude of design opportunities and effects.  Surfaces and edges can be integrated to form alternating colour effects and patterns.

Warnings

In humid or damp areas, such as kitchen and bathroom applications, Melawood with a BisonDura substrate is the ideal combination material as BisonDura is an Exterior Grade particleboard suitable for humid conditions.

Finishes

All colours in the MelaWood range are available in three finishes:  Peen, a textured, stippled surface; Executive, a smoother, gloss-like finish which optimises the woodgrain effect; and Ashwood; an embossed woodgrain surface.

Due to the fact that the number of combinations of MelaWood items is so great, and because it is not possible to effectively show the different finishes over the web, we have only listed the Ashwood finish MelaWood items above.
