of the Company
In 1955, PG & SI and Fibreglass Ltd. in England, commissioned the
building of an insulation plant in Springs, South Africa. Six years later,
in 1961, Owens Corning Fibreglass Corp acquired a 24% interest, and a
marble melt operation was commissioned in 1963. In 1982, Federale
Volksbeleggings purchased the entire shareholding and renamed the company
AFI. AFI acquired MWM in 1989. A management buy-out occured two years
later. In 1996, Owens Corning acquired a 51% stake in AFI. |
