Accidental Release Measures:
|
Combustion products of binder:
carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, other hydrocarbons and water.
Extinguishing media: water, foam, carbon dioxide, dry
powder
Protective clothing: Firefighters entering an area where
fibrous slag is present, must wear full protective gear, including eye and
respiratory protection
|
Small spills: Use a vacuum cleaner
Large spills: Spray with water to suppress dust. Collect wet material
with shovels or front-end loader
Never use compressed air to clean an area where fibrous slag has been
spilt
|

Exposure Control/Personal Protection:
|
Handling/storage precautions: Store
and handle in a manner that prevents spread of airborne fibrous slag dust
in the workplace.
|
Occupational exposure limit: Recommended limit 2
fibres/ml air (Act 85 of 1993)
Engineering control measures: Local exhaust ventilation
with hood; or process enclosure, to contain dust
