
The above nomograph can be used to determine the thermal conductivity, k, of
a fiberglass pipe section as follows:
- Locate the cold face temperature of the pipe section on the left
hand temperature scale e.g.: Tcf = 20ºC
- Locate the hot face temperature on the right hand temperature scale
e.g.: Thf = 260ºC
- Draw a straight line between these two points. The thermal
conductivity applicable to this temperature application can then be
read off the centre axis e.g.: k=0.049W/mK
- This k-value can then be applied to Fourier's Law: Q = kA dT
