BULK LOOSE SPUN ROCKWOOL (TUFTS OR GRANULATED)
Description
K-wool, Granulated - lightly resin impregnated, granulated loose rockwool.
K-wool, Loose - non-granulated, resin free loose rockwool.
Thermafloc - Granulated, resin free loose rockwool.
Application
K-wool, Granulated - used as a fibrous filler to impart strength and bulk. K-wool, Loose - cavity fill insulation for packing to a specific density.
Thermafloc - cavity fill insulation - either blown or poured.
- General insulation, expansion relief, packing behind brickwork in furnaces.
- Thermal insulation of ovens and other industrial equipment.
- Cryogenic applications - refrigerated cargo holds, oxygen plant, cold boxes.
- Acoustic insulation of motor vehicle and other types of silencers
Suited for packing into cavities of irregular dimensions, especially where preformed insulation cannot be fitted.
Operating Temperature
K-wool, Loose and Thermafloc - temperature range = -180ºC to 650ºC
Fire Performance
Non-combustible - Conforms to SABS 0177 Part V
Thermal Conductivity
The amount of loose wool installed will determine the density of the Rockwool
which in turn will determine the thermal conductivity.
Biosolubility
Is soluble in lung fluid. It will thus dissolve in a matter of days and pass through the body naturally.
Permanence
Is rot-proof, odourless, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
Acoustic Performance
Will provide effective acoustical insulation where a reduction in noise levels is required. Has good sound absorption characteristics.
Standard Dimensions
K-wool, Granulated - Packaging 30 kg bags K-wool, Loose - Packaging 25 kg bags Thermafloc - Packaging 20 kg bags
Chloride Content
Contains inherently low levels of water-leachable chlorides, typically 2ppm (max. 5ppm) and thus will neither cause nor promote corrosion.
Thermal Calculations
The thermal conductivity of the installed loose wool will be the same as other rockwool products of the same density and thickness.
