The strength of INTRUDERPRUFE at preventing criminals from intruding into a building or breaking through a shopfront is already well known. What is sometimes less appreciated is the performance INTRUDERPRUFE offers in blocking the intrusion of unwelcome noise and UV light. INTRUDERPRUFE also prevents a simple fall against a large window from turning into a tragic accident.

INTRUDERPRUFE is a clear laminated glass, made from two layers of clear float glass, permanently bonded together by pressure and heat with one or more Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) plastic interlayers . The result is an SABS approved safety glass that can withstand many blows from a would-be intruder.

INTRUDERPRUFE comes in three performance variations. These are:
• Normal Strength (NS) for human impact safety - 0.38 mm PVB
• High Penetration Resistant (HPR) for additional security - 0.76 mm PVB
• High Impact (HI) for security in high risk applications - 1.52 mm PVB

PFG INTRUDERPRUFE glass has been tested by repeatedly dropping a 225g steel ball from a height of 9 metres. Each drop approximately equaling the blow from a hammer. The number of blows required to penetrate the glass are recorded in the table below.

NB the size of the hole at penetration point is approximately 50mm in diameter, many more blows are required to gain access.

To assist in optimising design and specifications, PFG Building Glass offers a technical advisory service covering most appropriate product for each for each application; economy, thermal stability, Building Regulations, guarantees and local and international product standards, For maximum benefit to the project this should ideally commence before working drawings begin.
